Methodology
Our language program is proficiency-oriented. In our classes we teach and use the communicative approach which has proven to be the most effective and productive language teaching method for students and teachers. We assess and integrate your learning style to plan and coordinate your classes. In this way we can better fulfill and enhance your learning skills and goals.
During class time the emphasis is on conversation and improvement of your oral skills without losing sight of the other parts of the language such as grammar and vocabulary.
Instruction is completely in Spanish and UTUR instructors will always encourage you to speak in Spanish only.
The Total Immersion Context
In Costa Rica you will be surrounded by native Spanish speakers; this means that outside of the classroom you will be involved in real language situations, not fictional role plays or dialogs. You will learn not only language but also cultural interaction in real context. Your proficiency level is expected to increase due to the exposure of daily communication in Spanish. Aside from this, 100% of the class time is spent speaking Spanish because our goal is for you to become functionally proficient.
Faculty
Our professors have been recruited through a series of professional processes in order to assure you that you will receive the highest standard of language services. Our professors must have University studies. They have taken our UTUR teaching training program. Teaching training program, also include periodic maintenance and upgrades, in order that they may apply and instruct our teaching methodologies.
